Assassins Creed 2 was created and directed by Patrice Desilets. Patrice decided to base the sequel in the renaissance because of his love of the city. Patrice wanted Desmond’s story to continue but through the memory of another Assassin, One of Patrice main pieces of feedback from the fans was that Altair had no personality. Patrice and his team changed this by adding a new assassin called Ezio Auditore da Firenze born at Florentine in 1459. With other feedback from the fans Patrice and his team took their feedback such as the climbing was to slow for tall buildings, not able to skip cut scenes and how it would automatically switch the Desmond and changed it all around in their sequel Assassins Creed 2.
The story is about a 17 year old boy called Ezio Auditore da Firenze who is known as a womanizer. One day Ezio finds out that his brothers and his dad have been sentenced to death for false treason. After the death of his family Ezio is seen as a criminal and a traitor. Ezio finds out his father’s good friend Leonardo Da Vinci where he receives the hidden blade which is used the assassinate one of the men who is responsible for his family’s death, Uberto Alberti. Ezio finds out that his mother and sister are alive and decide to leave Florence and travel to his uncle’s home. Ezio’s uncle, Mario teaches him how fight and how to live by the creed and how to understand the fight. Ezio now has to kill a series of Templers which will lead him to the Apple of Eden. Years later in 1499 Ezio is after the Alexander the pope for the apple of Eden and to also have revenge for the man who was responsible for the death of ezio’s brothers and father. After a long a weary battle the pope use the apple to freeze Ezio and stabs him. After Alexander flees Ezio tracks him down using eagle vision and fights him in hand to hand combat, Ezio releases that vengeance will not bring any off his lost family back and will change him personality wise, he decides to let him live. After opening the vault Ezio is approached by a holographic figure called Minerva who talk to him about other Templars in the future and also Desmond Ezio is left confused.
My opinion on Assassins Creed 2 was that it is a great improvement on the prequel by adding in a personality gave me more knowledge about the character. The introduction to the game did start off very slowly but then the game picked up pace where your first fight was a rival family and you are playing as Ezio, not the assassin just a young teenager getting into trouble by fighting. A thing that impressed me was how Patrice did act on the feedback which was given which greatly improved the game. The gameplay in my eyes was extremely better, the flow of combat was easier and the free running action moves was greatly improved. The story I found very easy to understand until the end of a game where a holograph came to Ezio I found this to be very complex and did not understand what she was talking about. The soundtrack for the game was very interesting it was soothing while running on building but in combat the music went louder and more powerful which gave a greater effect on the gameplay making combat more intense and enjoyable. Overall for me the game was a brilliant play through and was improved a lot from Assassins Creed 1 expect for its complex storyline. Here is a gameplay trailer if anyone is interested in the game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Qz9ah8cKQ.
